Retreat

I have had a stressful couple days. One of my clients "fired" me...she was unsatisfied with the way that I was working with her family and decided they would be better without my services. There is a lot of history to this person and everyone involved agrees it is not my fault. However, it still feels pretty bad. So, I am dealing with this and saying goodbye to the family. Yesterday, I went into Barnes and Noble to get some coffee and wallow a bit. As soon as I walked in the smell of new books and coffee hit me and I felt peace. I had forgotten what a retreat the bookstore is to me. Maybe its thousands of pieces of literature on such a variety of topics that it helps to put my problems and worries into perspective. Maybe it is the wealth of knowledge at my fingertips that provides a calm. All I know is right now as I sit in this bookstore I get a little retreat from my life and worries...and I get a nice cup of coffee.

Oh Ang!! I feel your pain! I've been fired by pt's before. The first was the worst, b/c I took it personally, and really the pt just had a lot to deal with and tried to control the relationship with me, it wasn't really about me. But, it still felt that way. Anyway, I'm glad you are getting peace and re-centering from the bookstore! Hope to see you soon!

This has to be hurtful especially if you have connected with one of the family members. Your client's choices most likely were based on immediate felt needs rather than any long term goals. So glad that you can find solace in good books and a cup of coffee. God's smallest places for us are sometimes the greatest! You are loved!

You can only do your best and if your client has a problem with it, it is their issue (one of many, right?). I can imagine it is hard not to take it personal, but sometimes things just don't gel or go smoothly.

Went to Border's today -- the smell of new books is really uplifting. Hope you are better. Glad the agency realized it was a difficult situation..... Much love.
